Celebration of Love and Friendship

14 February - St Valentine's Day - a day when lovers celebrate their love for each other (in an elaborate and "forced" fashion for some?) and romance floods the air.

I now brand Valentine's Day a celebration of friendship. On this special day, I had dinner with D. She thought I was pretty crazy to have started getting ready for the night since 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Well, if done slowly and at your leisure, you'll be surprised.

Dinner was great and a long 3 hours. Girlish talk and laughter are just so therapeutic.

We continued the night with drinks elsewhere - more friends and mindless chatter.

Amidst all the laughter, I couldn't help but think how different the night would have been with that special someone. Nothing beats feeling loved and having someone look you in the eyes like the world is made only for the two of you.

I love Valentine's Day - whether I am attached or single, maybe more so when I'm seeing someone. I do not really care if some of you may think it is over-commercialised these days or everyday should be Valentine's Day for a couple in love, I am a hopeless romantic. A day like this should be exactly that - hopelessly romantic.
